A new rogueware application is threatening vulnerable computers all over the world. Security Shield is reported to target computers and sneak into their systems without letting their users know about its deceitful intentions. Security Shield pretends to be a legitimate and reliable security application that is aimed at helping people and protecting their computers from malicious and fraudulent creations of cyber criminals. However, Security Shield does not disclose to the users that it is exactly such a malicious program that is aimed at scaring them into thinking there are serious troubles with their PCs. Security Shield wants to trick PC owners into spending their money on this useless software. However, Security Shield will never tell you that it is just another creation of cyber criminals and, in fact, it can neither detect infected files, nor warn you about system threats. It is a scam tool aimed at taking your money.

Security Shield is reported to be a part of the same family as MS Removal Tool. As all the other members of this rogueware family, Security Shield uses all kinds of deceitful tricks to penetrate into targeted computers. For example, Security Shield uses compromised web pages that have the ability to find and exploit vulnerabilities in programs that are running on targeted computers. Once some vulnerabilities are detected, they are immediately used to transfer Security Shield to the targeted PC. The user of the machine is not alarmed about the transfer, and it is done without the need of his approval. Then, Security Shield is ready to start its deceitful plan and hide itself deep into the compromised system.
To scare people into thinking their computers are in danger, Security Shield will start showing fake warnings. They will pop up on the user’s desktop again and again. Even if the user wants to stop them, the messages will continue popping up. All of them will warn the user about serious problems and system errors. They will tell the owner of the PC that if he does not fix the problems immediately, there may be serious consequences.
The warnings will report the following problems:
Security Shield Warning
Security Shield has found viruses at your system.
We highly recommended to get license for Security Shield to remove harmful software now.

Moreover, Security Shield will not allow you to start some applications, and it will tell you that they are compromised and due to that reason, they are blocked. You will see a message similar to the following:
Security Shield
“notepad.exe” is infected with “Backdoor:Win32/Hackdef.O”.

Not only that, but Security Shield will create many compromised files in some hidden location. For Windows XP the files will be located in the C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\ directory, and for Vista and Windows 7 in C:\Users\\AppData\Local\. Later, Security Shield will pretend to be making a scan of the system. This security scan will show frightening results and report to have detected numerous infected files. The files detected are, in fact, the same files Security Shield has created itself.
Security Shield will tell you that you need to remove the specified files immediately. However, you will not be allowed to delete them manually. Security Shield will say that you need to purchase its full version to remove the infected files, otherwise, you will not be allowed to do that.
Do not be tricked, and do not pay for this bogus software. On the contrary, be very careful and remove it as soon as you can. Do not disclose any personal or financial details to hackers. Use a reliable and genuine AV application to protect your PC.
