Smart Protection 2012 is reported by security specialists to be one of the latest computer threats. Smart Protection 2012 is reported to be a scam application. It is aimed at making unsuspecting PC users think their computers are compromised, and Smart Protection 2012 has to be downloaded to fix the machines. This attacker will use compromised web pages to trick users into believing they have to make a scan of their systems to detect any threats. After that the users will be told that there are many infections on their computers, and they need to download Smart Protection 2012 to protect their PCs. When the application is downloaded, it will transfer malicious files to the targeted PCs. Another way of spreading Smart Protection 2012 is via infected web pages which find and use vulnerabilities in running programs. As you can see, Smart Protection 2012 has nothing to do with a reliable and effective AV and it does not use loyal ways of installing itself on your PC.

When Smart Protection 2012 penetrates into a targeted system, it first creates many infected files in different directories. You can find the compromised files in the folders c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\, for XP, or C:\ProgramData, for Windows Vista and Windows 7. After the attacker has gained access to your PC, it will start displaying numerous pop-up messages. All of them will warn you about serious computer errors which may lead to a computer crash if immediate measures are not taken. After it has checked your system, Smart Protection 2012 will claim to have detected many compromised files and it will say that you have to remove them immediately, otherwise you may experience a serious system crash.
