DOJ (FBI) Virus

Thursday, November 22nd 2012 under Security by

DOJ (FBI) virus is a dangerous intruder that enters computers without notification and scares people into believing their machines are locked by FBI. Of course, this is not true, and this warning is created and sent from cyber criminals to steal your money and information. It enters your PC without your knowledge and locks the whole system. The only thing that can be seen is the scary message.

It is known that DOJ virus comes to computers with the help of Trojan horses. It sneaks without being noticed and compromises the system. It is often transferred together with illegal or free downloads, as well as fake and malicious software and updates. It modifies the computer’s registry and thus makes it impossible for the user to access any documents or files on his PC. Moreover, the user cannot start any programs or system features to disable the message or remove it from the Desktop.

The aim of this message is to make the user think he has to pay a fine of $200 to unlock his machine. Moreover, this has to be done in the next 72 hours otherwise the person will be prosecuted for his crime. The warning seems realistic, and a user can be easily misled into believing he is accused of illegally downloading or spreading copyrighted materials. The victim is threatened that he will be taken to prison for his actions if the money is not paid in due course.

Here is what the false message says:

Your computer has been locked!
This operating system is locked due to the violation of the federal laws of the United States of America! (Article 1, Section 8, Clause 8; Article 202; Article 210 of the Criminal Code of U.S.A provides for a deprivation of liberty for four to twelve years.)
Your IP address was used to visit websites containing pornography, child pornography, zoophilia and child abuse. Your computer also contains video files with pornographic content, elements of violence and child pornography!
The computer lock is aimed to stop your illegal activity.
To unlock the computer you are obliged to pay a fine of $200.
You have 72 hours to pay the fine, otherwise you will be arrested.
You must pay the fine through MoneyPak

Of course, these are only empty threats aimed at making you give your money to hackers. The false warning tries to make you think that MoneyPak is a reliable online payment system. Of course, this is not true. In fact, this online payment method is often associated with hackers and their fraudulent plans. If you submit any personal or financial details to this scam message, they will be taken and immediately sent to cyber criminals. Then, hackers will be able to use them for their malicious plans. Moreover, they will be able to steal money from your bank account without your knowledge, and they will not hesitate to do that.

This is why DOJ virus (FBI virus) not only has nothing to do with FBI, but it even poses a serious risk to your information and security. You have to remove the infection without delay from your computer. You can do that manually, but you need to be an expert with computers. There is a risk of losing your data and even experiencing a fatal system crash.

It is much better to use an automated malware removal tool. You can download SpyHunter and scan your system with it to detect and remove the intruder. This software will help you remove the virus completely, as well as any files it has created.
