Several events have occurred recently which have been used to demonise those who criticise the government and the official conspiracy theory about 9/11:

- Joseph Stack, who flew an aeroplane into a tax office

-The Southern Poverty Law Centre, which released a report conflating extremist groups with peaceful organisations like We Are Change

- The Pentagon Shooter. The media has leapt on the fact he doubted the official 9/11 conspiracy theory, rather than the fact he had mental health problems and was on antidepressants (there are many examples where they have been implicated in people commiting extremely violent acts followed by suicide).
